#24hPort (Photo by @ChrisKissock, courtesy Creative Time).
Beginning this Wednesday, May 25th at 5pm I will spend 24 consecutive hours in the Port Authority Bus Terminal. During this time I will collect locations/stories/anecdotes from travelers in the complex about where they are going, and will pose the following question to those following the hashtag #24hPort: “Where have you been?”
You are hereby cordially invited to participate.
It’s a commission from Creative Time, who I am thrilled to be working with. It is one of three performances for Creative Time Tweets, curated by Shane Brennan. There’s a nice overview of the series in Art in America here, and an interview with Brennan on Hyperallergic here.
It’s going to be intense and logistically challenging. I’ll be struggling with, and against, the labyrinthian architecture, miscellaneous transients, and the availability of cell reception. W00t!
#24hPort is at once a distinct performance and partly a continuation of my (very) recent performance, #140hBerlin, where I asked people to talk about “home.”
Ok. I wasn’t kidding when I said May was gonna be busy. :) June? Vacation. Hold me to that.
Thank you for your continued interest and support. You are, quite literally, making this possible. And better.
xo,
Man
