Here’s the response I got from Hyperallergic:
Salon and Hyperallergic have a syndication test deal that will run for 3 months. Writers get paid by Hyperallergic but there isn’t an additional fee by Salon. Only one post a day will be syndicated. Hyperallergic emailed the writers about this beforehand and mentioned that they thought it was a good opportunity to broaden the publication’s audience and help increase our publication’s impact and reach in the arts and critical communities. There appears to be little overlap between the audiences for the two publications.
