On February 20, 1909, one hundred and five years ago today, Paris newspaper Le Figaro published the Futurist Manifesto, written by Italian poet Filippo Tommaso Marinetti. The manifesto declared with great fanfare the tenets of Futurism, embracing technology, industrialization, and speed, and inserting their energetic style into all aspects of political and cultural life.
