Components of a performance, #hamskull:
President Obama’s recent Tucson speech
Miles Runs the Voodoo Down
A Skull
A copy of Green Eggs and Ham
A Hungry-Man Dinner
The Internet
How these are all interconnected remains to be fully discovered. But, some thoughts going in:
Green Eggs and Ham became my favorite book after repeated attempts by my father to get me to read it (I refused for a week). I was four or five years old?
I used the same skull (thx Joy!) for an intervention over the summer during the #shakespalin frenzy.
Something about skulls and Death and Voodoo and my Southern roots.
Roots, and locations in general; home.
The obvious pun with a Hungry-Man Dinner, but also a sort of simulation of a last meal.
Attempts at processing recent American news and of the politics surrounding it.

Where do I fit in to all this? Where does The Internet fit in to all of this, for that matter. There will be an audience tonight (hopefully!), in person. Maybe an audience online. Our relationship may be discovered during the performance. Or not.
I am attempting to bring some things to the table (sry pun), on intuition. The scary territory of the mind and [sub]consciousness. Of not knowing what I’m doing, but knowing what I’m doing. This is the challenge and reward. Being in the moment when the moment is now. It is, in fact, always now. And to deftly bring to this world a nuance of existential humor without the gravity of over self-importance. The balance of ego and message. Time and no time.
Walking forth into the abyss, the great white void, with a smile and a one-liner: “I’m hungry.”
I’m hungry for humanity’s well being.
I’m hungry for potatoes.
For macaroni and cheese.
I’m hungry for your fears to evaporate like I’m hungry for mine to.
For the sustained passion to make a career as I see fit.
I’m hungry to be an example.
To walk with people.
I’m hungry for jello!
Hungry to give back.
Love hungry!
Lust hungry!
And right now, hungry to find a way to stop and listen.
…
Ok, maybe see some of you tonight in person or online. You rock, and thanks so much for your continued interest and support!
xx,
Man
