Mika Rottenberg, Pocono Party #2, 30”x22”, C-print, edition of 50 (thumb not included)
The other day I won a contest for identifying a Walton Ford print on Exit Art’s Facebook page. The prize is a sweet card set of all the Exit Art Print Portfolio prints, dating back to 1998.
This one stood out, even before I realized it was a Rottenberg. I really dig her work. It consistently compels me to look longer at it. It’s engaging, symbolically complex, timely, and yet not didactic. Art like this, at least within “the contemporary market” (whatever that even really means), is in short supply today. More, please.
