I was inspired by this short excerpt from an interview with Patti Smith from the Louisiana Channel produced from by the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark. Some meaningful and wise advice for young artists and all human beings alike:
"One does their work for the people and the more people you can touch, the more wonderful it is…you want everyone to be transported or hopefully inspired by it. When I was really young…the advice William told me was: Build a good name, and keep your name clean. Don’t make compromises …don’t worry…about being successful. Be concerned with doing good work and make the right choices and protect your work. And if you build a good name, eventually, that name will be it’s own currency." - Patti Smith
There’s more wisdom there too…just watch the short video to hear more!
